Summer Bubble Sewing

I’ve had “requests” from my daughter for summer bubbles for my grand daughter. It’s been fun sewing/smocking. I’ve used some current patterns and some older out of print patterns for her. We decided that this was the summer to really focus on that type of garment since she was not potty trained yet.  Seems as though when the little girls are potty trained they don’t want someone helping them but a garment back on, which would be the case with a bubble.

I started out with letting Betsy choose fabrics, bubble patterns and smocking designs. The first project was to have ready when her sister and nephew came the end of June. This project was from an out of print pattern called Torrey’s Bubble by Victoria’s Originals.

 Torrey

Sweet little bubble that you can make with “flutter sleeves” or puffed sleeves, a Peter Pan collar or a ruffle collar. Has a nice button sash or a regular tie sash in the back. Buttons down the back with a placket. Snap crotch and elastic legs.

Our bubble was stitched out of cotton seersucker check in Baby Pink. Betsy chose a smocking design that had been in a past Australian Smocking & Embroidery and it was stitched up in blue #800 cotton Floche’ thread. Here’s the finished bubble. “Flutter sleeves”, of course!
